Consumers can order their own testing directly via The Canary Club (otherwise, a licensed health practitioner must order the tests). Most labs, while excellent, require use of a personal ordering practitioner. (Not available in all states)
Diagnos-Techs, Inc. was established in 1987 and was the first lab in the United States to implement salivary-based hormone assessment into routine clinical practice.
For the past twelve years, their tests have converted many physicians in their hormone assay preferences from run-of-the-mill mass production panels to precision diagnosis of problems.
These tests have become powerful tools in evaluating gastrointestinal problems, stress and hormone related diseases as well as the overall wellness of the patient.
Quality control is clearly a primary goal. All parameters on reports are standardized daily to WHO (World Health Organization) and other standardization agencies' reference materials.
This insures the reproducibility of results, and permits precise clinical diagnosis based on real values, year in and year out.

- ADRENAL STRESS INDEX
This involves four separate samples of saliva for cortisol and DHEA collected at four different times during the day.
- REPRODUCTIVE HORMONE SCREEN
Reproductive Hormone Screen
This is a one-time saliva determination for a spot check of the major reproductive hormone in both men and women (estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone).
Complete directions for all testing and panels come with the sample collection kit, which are mailed to you by the lab [unless your personal practitioner already has them in her or his office].
Results of testing will be mailed directly to you to help you determine your actual endo-type (see Chapter 4). Once again, we urge you to review these results with a supportive and knowledgeable practitioner of your choice.

*Price for their hormone panel is $109.00. (Canary Club Members receive a 5% discount). This price is extremely reasonable considering all the tests included!
*You will, however, need to have some patience as these saliva tests - unlike blood tests - can take several weeks to process.
*It generally can take 3-7 business days to receive your kit once you have ordered it.
*Be sure to drink plenty of water the day before collecting the saliva samples; you can also hold a cut lemon under your nose to stimulate salivation if you're having a challenging time producing enough saliva to fill the tubes.
*Once you collect the saliva specimens, you mail them back to the lab however you wish (priority mail, regular mail, FedEx, etc.). Ideally you would arrange for some tracking system.
*Once the samples are received at Diagnos-Techs Lab, it can take up to 10 working days before results are posted. Please be patient, and allow a couple of weeks after you return the full kit for viewing your results.
* To access your results, you will return to the The Canary Club where you originally ordered the test. To access your personal information, you will need your Canary Club username and password the password you chose for the lab along with the Diagnos-Techs CC# assigned to you when you ordered your kit.
- Download your results to your printer, so that you can then have these results interpreted by a practitioner of your choice. It is always preferred, and highly recommended, that you work with a qualified licensed practitioner who has the experience to judge which gland is most out of range, thus revealing your "endo-type".
- For instance, the range of normal on TSH results for saliva tests is different than the standard TSH range on blood tests. A practitioner familiar with saliva tests would know about this, helping you to avoid any unnecessary confusion.

All tests in use evolve through several stages namely, development, validation, application in clinical research followed by popularization and wider use. The
saliva thyroid test is now in the research phase like hundreds of other blood tests that are presently in use clinically.
In plain English, most health care providers are not yet familiar with its use and insurance does not yet cover the test.
Nevertheless, initial studies indicate that saliva tests can differentiate between normal and low thyroid individuals. Thyroid Saliva Testing is currently unavailable while further research is underway.
